2007
CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
Two venues, three buildings, and several
million dollars worth of cars; in it's 34th
year the Canadian International Auto Show
once again delivers just what everyone
wants. Bigger than ever, this year's show
covered 850,000 square feet, showcased over
1000 cars, had 150 vendors, and an expected
attendance of more then 300,000 between
February 16th and 25th.
The theme this year was "Fully Loaded" and
the show certainly was. Some of the exhibits
of note this year were Dodge's new 2008
Challenger, another blast from the past
retro design that promises a trip down
memory lane and no shortage of power in the
higher end trim levels. Brammo Motorsports
was onsite with the cure for the midlife
crisis, the Ariel Atom. Although slightly
less spectacular then it's Euro counterpart,
the North American version still boasts an
impressive 245hp wrapped up in a 1400lb.
package. Lotus had the always awe inspiring
Exige S on display. Audi brought the big
guns with their RS4 and R8 models keeping us
all drooling.
With the sun setting and my train departing
I was left with a satisfied yet disappointed
feeling. I saw so much, yet there was still
more to see. For it's 35th year the CIAS
will be a two day event, if not for all,
then at least for this enthusiast.
