Twin-headlight grilles have a pair of cross-head retaining screws which you'll need to remove first.

Disconnect the spot lamps from the wiring loom at the connector blocks.

You can now lift the old grille clear, leaving the main headlamps in place.

See these clips? They hold the trim onto the lower edge of the grille. Ease them over the grille's plastic tags to remove this trim. Take care not to damage the paintwork, which is already liable to rusting. All you need do now is refit the trim to your new grille. You mat find some excess plastic, or flashing, on the grille moulding that stops you pushing the trim clips cleanly through their holes. Cut this away with a sharp knife before attempting to fit the trim.

Offer the grille up to the car. Once the bottom edge has been located, It will push into place and secure itself using those four clips.

And there you have it, new grille, new VW :)
