The reason I did this mod I was in a shop the
other day and saw some corner markers I liked,
so instead of buying them I thought to my self
the famous "Joey mod"! So I went to the store
got the tools and I came up with my own liltle
"Joey mod" dubbed "DIY DARTH VADER CORNER
MARKER" Thanks all to Joey! Plus the markers I
wanted cost $40 bucks I saved $36 bucks doing it
this way! enjoy!
The
Tools:
- Multi purpose Epoxy
- Gloss black spray paint
- Carpenters knife
- Scissors
- Corner marker
- Time
VW TECH BY: Shanton Wilson
I did not have a hair
dryer so I used hot running water for about 2
minutes to soften the glue used to put the lens
on the backing of the corner marker.
STEP 2.
STEP 3.
Take your Carpenter knife
find where the lens and backing of the corner
marker sits and slide your knife in between. As
shown in the picture. Now you should be able to
slide your knife around and separate the glue.
After about 3\4 of the way around CAREFULLY pry
open the lens and detach from the backing.
This is the trick part,
"Time" comes into play at this point. Now take
your masking tape and cover up any part that
does not have chrome on the inside of the corner
marker as shown in the picture. Do not rush this
process the more time you take to make perfect
the better the results will be in the end.

STEP 4.
STEP 5.
Find a piece of cardboard
or plastic sheet as I did and cut a hole in it
the size of about a dime. Now insert the backing
of the corner lens as shown in the photo, so it
will stand freely with out laying on its side.
Now take your gloss black spray paint and
paint!. Use no less than 2 coats of paint. Make
sure to dry before putting on second coat then
let dry.
After every thing has
dried take your epoxy and mix it together on a
piece of card board with some Q tips. I mixed
enough epoxy to do one corner marker at a time
this way the epoxy does not get hard. Put epoxy
on the edges of the lens and the backing of the
corner marker, Apply IMMEDIATELY!!!! then push
firmly around edges to get a waterproof seal.
Set and let dry for about 2 hours.
LOOK AT THEM SHINE.
STEP 6.
Go put them back on your car and enjoy your $8
mod!
