STEP 1. |
How to change your
fog light bulbs on your 2006 VW GLI or GTI.
First of all, we need to address the replacement
light bulbs. On the USA market GLI/GTI's we are
seeing 9006 Bulbs. There are aftermarket jetta
kits that have hit the market, and they are
coming with H11 bulbs. The only way to be 100%
sure is to open yours up first. It should take
no more than 15 minutes to check them.

Let's start by
removing the set screw on the lower panel. |
|
STEP 2. |
STEP 3. |

Put a finger in
the hole where the screw came out. Above it is a
recessed area that you can use to pull the cover
off. |

Here you can see
the fog light with the cover removed. It's held
in by 3 philips screws. |
|
STEP 4. |
STEP 5. |

Remove the screws,
and you will see the connector in the back.
Squeeze the connector and the plug will pull
off. |

Twist the bulb
counter clock-wise. If it doesn't move, use some
pliers for leverage. Don't squeeze on the
connector, but only use the pliers to help twist
the bulb.

Compare new vs.

Repeats steps 5
through 1 to reassemble the fog light housing. |

THE COMPLETED PROJECT. |

Ahhhh, much
better! I like this setup for when it snows or
is really rainy out. Sometimes the HID lighting
can create more glare, so I run a euroswitch to
allow just the parking and fogs to be on. The
yellow bulbs are from
European Autosport. Great long lasting bulbs
that I've used in other cars before. They not
only have the yellow bulbs, but they also have
the HID matching bulbs. |
