AJAX, ON - Fresh after winning 3 of 12
categories last Friday at last week’s judging of the
best new vehicles in Canada for 2010 by the
Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC),
Volkswagen Canada announced that it sold 3,545 new
vehicles in October as shipments of its
award-winning members of the new Golf Family made
their way to Customers across the country. Customers
took delivery of the 2010 new Golf Wagon, AJAC’s
Best New Family Sedan (under $30k), the 2010 Golf
GTI, voted as Canada’s Best New Sports / Performance
Car (under $50k), as well as the all-new 2010 Golf
hatchback models.
TDI Clean Diesel sales remained strong throughout
the month, accounting for 24% of all deliveries
including the best sales month ever for AJAC’s Best
New SUV/CUV ($35k-$60k), the 2010 Touareg TDI Clean
Diesel.
Sales of other Volkswagen models rose versus October
2008 on the news of the multiple AJAC wins,
including Tiguan (+71%) and Passat (+62%). Overall,
Volkswagen sales decreased slightly during the month
by 3.2% versus the same time period in 2008.
From January to October 2009, Volkswagen has
delivered 33,664 new vehicles in Canada, and has
gained 40 points of market share versus the same
time period in 2008 for a total of 2.7%
year-to-date.
